So, I’ve decided since I really don’t have much to say on a regular basis, I will use this blog to detail the baked goods I send out the door. Today, I sent some woodland creature decorated sugar cookies home with a customer.
I love looking at cookies designed by other cookiers and when I got a call for some woodland creature cookies, I knew I wanted to do a fox and an owl, both of which were inspired by the Bearfoot Baker. She is amazing and so creative! Anyway, she created a fox face by using a star-shaped cookie cutter. Brilliant! I love it when I can use something I already have and turn it into something else entirely. Along those lines of thinking, I was inspired by Sugar Belle and I used an egg cookie cutter to make my owls. I cheated and purchased a mushroom cookie cutter although you can get creative with oval cookie cutters for those as well. Anyway, here are the results:
These cookies happen to use egg free icing, which I find a tad bit more difficult to work with than regular royal icing but you can still get some pretty cute cookies out of it if I do say so myself.
Until next time!
